Harry on Wilshire

It's true: I want everyone to know about the magical Wilshire/Fairfax neighborhood, which is the setting for the "Wilfair" world.

Yep, it is city-busy, and noisy, and maybe not magical-appearing at first glance. But the Los Angeles neighborhood is also home to one of the planet's major Ice Age fossil sites, one of the world's great art museums, a superb crafts museum, an excellent car museum, and a fab museum that houses the aforementioned fossils. And just a short walk away? One of the world's great public markets -- Farmers Market, natch -- and the now-gone theatre where "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and "Fantasia" premiered.

Magical, to me.

Adding one more thing to that list: One of the world's best-known Harry Potter shops is on Wilshire Boulevard. I just wrote about it for NBC in honor of the boy wizard's birthday. Fun times.

I realized I used "the world's ____" several times, but that's how I feel. I'm all happy hyperbole when it comes to this particular area.
