Thank You

It's the dog days of summer 'round where I live, so, yeah, I'm roasty and prone to lolling. How are you doing? Hot where you are? Or are you in winter right now? Please throw a snowball for me, if so.

I wanted to check in and say THANK YOU -- all capitals -- for your wonderful comments and emails and hellos. This has been my favorite part of this process, meeting interesting people. (Second favorite part? Rewriting any scene involving forearms and dip. Uh, that sounds weird, but I'm leaving it.)

When my favorite blogs ask us readers "what would you like to see?" my eyes tend to glaze over and I blankly scratch my chin. I won't put that to you, but if there is something you want more of in this space, I'm happy to oblige.

Do you want more snippets from "Stay Awhile"? More mastodons? More photos? More anything?

Thank you again, Erika, Jamila, Carly, Bess, Chiara, wealhtheow, Christina, Emily, and anyone who has dropped me a line or weighed in on a post. I appreciate you! Exclamation points all around!!!

And now, here's a photo of cute dog for the dog days of summer. His name is Theo and, as much as I hate to brag, I know him personally. Does that mean he knows me dog-ally, then?

Definitely more Stay Awhile snippets! I also love the posts where you talk about each character's sandwich or what kind of houseguest they would be or stuff like that.

It is so freaking hot where I live (Oklahoma)! We had 27 days in a row where the temp was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It recently cooled down...to the 90s! I love the Stay Awhile snippets!

Theo looks so very distinguished, I just want to comb his little beard!

wealhtheow: Yes and yes. PS -- Monday's your day, lady. I'm excited.

myrandaroyann: Hi! Is this your first time commenting? Welcome. Stay cool in the OK. I have a friend in Shawnee -- such a pretty area. (And thanks for the feedback!)

Bess: Theo's beard is very kissable, as all the best beards are. Speaking of beards, of the human kind, I sometimes think about giving one of the Overboves a beard down the road. That might happen, for a little while, at least. I predict they are both good beard-growers.

Oh, and because I like talking up my people, I'm going to share this funny thing my talented pal Rachel Pollon wrote. She's Theo's mom. Theo loves her and I do, too.

I like getting a behind the scenes look at the characters. All the little thoughts you might've thought about them that turned them into who they are - like what they were like growing up, the posts about what sandwiches they like, etc. I also love seeing the pictures since I've never been to California at all!

Thanks, Jamila! I very much like writing those posts. More California pics to come, too.

Theo looks like such a gentleman! Adorable <3

I'd love more snippets from Stay Awhile! It's fun to see a bit of what's lying ahead for us. Also more about the characters in any way you like it to share with us is always fun :)

Oh, and dogs. Dogs are always good.

I like snippets as well :) I also enjoy the extra information on character bits and I am really enjoying the spotlights!

Chiara said...

Yes, I just read the first spotlight. What a lovely idea!

Yes, this was my first time delurking! I've been subscribed to your blog ever since I devoured the first two Wilfair books. ;) I used to live in Shawnee! I lived there for 10 years and graduated from Shawnee High School in 2008. Small world! :D Thanks for writing such awesome books and visiting with us through your blog.

Chiara and Erika: Yes! Snippets and spotlights and dogs. More to come.

myrandaroyann: Thanks for the kind words! And that is so funny about Shawnee. Small world, indeed. I'm trying to remember this delicious diner where we ate. It had the butteriest biscuits. I don't think it was in Shawnee proper but a bit outside. Oh, and thank you for delurking! You are welcome to, uh, relurk, but I encourage you to stay delurked if you like. It is nice to have you. (PS Whenever I see the word "delurked" I think of a Klingon warbird in "Star Trek" decloaking. Yep, I'm married to a Trekker. :)

Hmm...I can't think of what diner that would be because I'm kind of scatterbrained. I know I'd want to go there because I love biscuits....and pretty much all other breads. Carbs are my weakness along with sweets, cheese, etc... Funny you should mention Star Trek since I've been watching Star Trek: TNG on Amazon Prime for the last few days. Brings back memories of watching it with my family. In fact, I'm watching an episode right now! ;)

TNG is my husband's favorite series! Say hola to Data for me. I must admit that I carry a flame for androids.

Speaking about dogs, I just came across this on Tumblr:

Chiara! You know my pug devotion. That photo. I like the look on the caboose's little mug. And is that a corgi leading the brigade? Corgis ♥.

We sometimes pug-sit for our friends, since our two pugs are now dearly departed. I saw these friends on Friday and begged them to loan us Fred -- that's their snarfly puglet's name -- for a few days.

I'm not above pleading when it comes to pugs.

I know, which is why I had to link to this one :) That Corgi is like the cherry on top of the parade. I wonder where they're headed for.

I got more pugs!

Fred! Love it!
