Romantic Holiday Song

In the spirit of favorite romcom and favorite romantic movie scene, I ask you this vitally important question today: What's your favorite romantic holiday song?

I cannot get enough of "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" as interpreted by the great, great Ella Fitzgerald. What a beautiful song, and so threaded with wonderful emotion, too.

The two Wilfair books out thus far, and the one to come, all take place in December. If you were to ask me if I have holiday plans down the road for Fair Finley and her friends, I might walk away whistling, hands clasped behind my back.

I saw Eydie Gorme and Steve Lawrence sing that live in Vegas a few years ago. HOT.

I do have a soft spot for "Last Christmas!" by Wham! Though it does stay in my head for several hours after I've heard it.

Whoops, I added an exclamation point to the song title when I only meant it for Wham! That's how strongly I feel about it, clearly!

I like "I'll Be Home For Christmas" for it's wistfullness and though it's not strictly romantic, "White Christmas".

Someone drove down my street the other night BLASTING "Last Christmas" it was after 11, I was up so I thought it was hilarious.

That just make me laugh! And coincidentally I am listening to it RIGHT NOW. Clearly your neighbor and I are siblings in Last Christmas love.

Also? Wistfulness is an underrated quality in my book.

(Actually, not literally in my books, which indulge in all matters of yearning to excess.) :P

Oh, wait, I read that as your neighbor, Bess, not a passerby. Oh darn. I would totally love a neighbor who blasted "Last Christmas." Maybe not *all* the time, of course, but occasionally.

It could very well have been a neighbor cruising for a parking spot. Everybody wins!

My favourite Christmas song is Fairytale of New York, but I'm not sure it qualifies as romantic, the lyrics are kind of heartbreaking and sad.

Also, I know it's not strictly a Christmas song, but it's on the Love Actually soundtrack so I always associate it with Christmas - God Only Knows by the Beach Boys

I have a favorite Christmas song that is not romantic and maybe not really a Christmas song as well. River in the Robert Downey Jr. version...beautiful! I also like Do They Know It's Christmas? But that's not romantic either. I think for a romantic song I'll have to go with Last Christmas as well.
