Your New Year's Wish

I've been making a few hope-filled wishes on my readers' behalf, as we head into the new year.

I'm sending you thoughts of health and happiness and friendship and all good things. If you want something special, I want you to get it. If you want to drop something that isn't helping you or enhancing your life, please do.

The future is a mystery -- a wonderful fact -- but I do know something: "Fairwil" is due in the spring! So I can accurately predict you'll have a free advance copy this May. Hooray! I won't believe it. April 9, by the by, is the fifth anniversary of when I wrote "A hotel without a pool isn't cool," the opening sentence of "Wilfair." Four books, five years, and so many ridick, completely rad people I've met through this world.

Loved. This. Time. Tremendously.

Here are my resolutions for 2014: Drink more water. Get overseas. See my friends and family all the dang time. Keep working hard. Meet a few more readers on the corner of Wilshire & Fairfax. Have a good time, all the time. (Thank you, "This Is Spinal Tap.")

If you send me your wish, I'll keep it in my heart. Maybe I'll even swing by Wilshire & Fairfax, breathe on a window at Johnie's Coffee Shop, and write your hope in the fog.

You know it is a magical corner, right? Just say the word.

Ahhh!! I can't wait to read Fairwil! I've had overwhelming desire to reread the series and this is just the motivation I need. I'll probably start tonight and stay up until 6 AM and deeply regret it when it's time to get up. But I won't really regret it because I love the books too much!

Hmmm...Resolutions for 2014: have a teaching job at a public school in the fall, walk around the neighborhood twice a week, get out to CA to see my family and MEET YOU :), get an apartment?, go on a date?,...

Happy New Year!

Resolutions: To have more fun, to care less about what people think, and to care more about myself. That sounds selfish, but it's not. Any magic you can send my way is appreciated!

Also, eeeeeeeek for Farwill!! xoxo

All of these are great! Wishes for the new year? To get back to making art, to read more (Fairwil will help with this!), to challenge myself, to go exploring . . . magic assistance is appreciated.

As an aside, my astrologically inclined sister sent me this note about the upcoming year of the horse. Take it with a good-sized grain of salt but I found the core idea to be hopeful and helpful:
Just found out that 2014 is the year of the Horse in Chinese calendar. This is a pretty amazing year the horse promises leaps of faith and great advances in your life. This will be a year of promising advances and possibly the greatest advice I can give is to prepare your dream boards/lists of goals before January 31st. Clean your homes, pay your bills and sit at home patiently for fire to light up! As a promise to my followers: where you are at the beginning of the year will seem so far in the past by the end of the year. You will be in a totally different place. Hold's guaranteed to be a hell of a ride of great memories and many dreams coming truth.
It will be worth your time to focus on these goals before the new moon and new Chinese year.

Resolutions for 2014: Be more adventurous. Take the kids camping. Visit the Wilfair blog more because it always makes me smile :-)

I can't wait for Fairwil! There is nothing more whimsical and fun than a Wilfair book!

Resolutions: to drink more water (and less soda), to wash my dishes every day, and to learn to play the ukulele.

I also like to joke every year that my resolution is to not start smoking. I *know* I can achieve that one. :)

I like to do a mix of resolutions that are easy and hard to keep. I, too, would like to drink more water. Also, keep doing yoga (something I started recently to help with my annual resolution of being more patient). And read some Elizabeth Gaskell books (and Fairwil, of course!).

So excited for Fairwil! And spring 2014 seems tantalizing close now that I've had a couple of days of reminding myself to write 2014 instead of 2013.

These are all great resolutions, I will be borrowing a few of them!
