Love This Cover

I referenced one of my favorite New Yorker covers in an article for work the other day, and I wanted to post it here. It's Adrian Tomine's "Missed Connection" and it is pretty dang amazing. The illustration tells the story, so any extra words from me would be superfluous.

Prints and more info at Mr. Tomine's site.

This is one of my favorites too! I tore this cover off and have saved it for years. I remember when it came out my Dad was half convinced that it was a drawing of me because I lived in Brooklyn at the time and the girl's style and hair resembled mine at time. Plus I always commuted with a book in hand. Adian Tomine's work is all very lovely.

Bess! I've seen a few photos of you and I can see the resemblance.

And I, too, ripped this cover off and saved it.

Where did you live in Brooklyn? Do you know I'm an ex-Park Sloper?

Gorgeous. I'm always impressed by illustrations in general, because my best attempt at something like this would be about 2 steps up from stick figures, but something about how much of a story/moment this manages to capture makes it extra lovely

Alysia, I did not know that! Park Slope is such a fun area. I lived Park Slope adjacent in Prospect Heights and then Greenpoint.

Hi Kelly!

Bess -- know both areas well. I lived in the P.S. for a half year back in the '90s, so not for too long. But enjoyed it! I worked at an indie bookstore on 7th Avenue. Ever go to Two Boots?
